There are few things more frustrating than when you finally get on the other side of a gruelling acne battle, only to be left with scars that are even more persistent. While nothing happens overnight, with the right skincare routine and in-clinic treatments, we can vastly improve acne scars over time.

Okay, now where do we start?

1. Strengthen the Barrier + Reduce Inflammation

The skin is unable to repair itself effectively when it’s stuck in fight or flight, which is why barrier support is always the first place we need to start to heal scarring. A strong, healthy skin barrier reduces inflammation and allows us to introduce ingredients targeted for collagen and elastin production as well as cellular renewal. Lotion N + Rescue are our barrier-healing heroes.

2. Boost Collagen + Elastin Production

Vitamin A (retinol) and Vitamin C work synergistically to produce healthy collagen and elastin. Vitamin A works at a cellular level by stimulating fibroblasts to produce collagen. Vitamin C is a co-factor in collagen synthesis, while also protects against oxidative damage. Environ AVST + Retinol Serum mixed together contains a high dose of Vit A and Vit C in a stable, tolerable form.

3. Promote Cellular Renewal through Exfoliation

ingredients like fruit enzymes and alpha-hydroxy-acids break down the bonds between the “dead” corneocyte cells from the outermost layers of the skin. This allows these skin cells to shed, allowing for better penetration of your other products, as well as increased collagen production. Polish is a strong enzyme mask to be used 1-2x/week while An-Dew Serum is gentle enough to use daily.

4. In-Clinic Microneedling to Expedite Your Results

The gold standard in-clinic treatment for acne scarring. A series of 4-6 sessions will dramatically improve all aspects of post-acne scarring, including textural issues and post-inflammatory erythema (red marks). Microneedling stimulates the skins natural wound healing response for enhanced collagen and elastin production. If you have acne-scars, you need microneedling.

 5. Lastly & Most Importantly: Protect with SPF

Are you really going to work that hard to produce new healthy collagen, only to let it break down from unprotected sun exposure? Daily spf application protects your skin from harmful UV damage which can darken scars and slow healing. We love the Odacité spf 50 drops. They come in sheer and tinted (our favourite for evening out the skin tone with foundation-level coverage but a skin-like finish.
